About Mark Draughn

Mark Draughn

"always one to ask the thought provoking questions"
--Blond Justice, criminal defense attorney

"Love his photography and reading his point of view, much as I disagree with it, but would definitely be striking him off any of my jury panels."
--Tom McKenna, prosecutor

"Mark is one smart cookie."
--Scott H. Greenfield, Esq., criminal defense attorney

"As usual Windypundit has it all wrong."
--Christopher King, civil rights activist

I make a living doing software development. For about 15 years I worked at it full time in an office, but now I work from home as a software consultant with clients in Illinois, Indiana, and Maryland.

I also make some money from the ads on Windypundit.com--earnings are currenly in the high 3-figures.

I launched Windypundit in July 2002 when it was still not completely lame to name your blog somethingpundit.

Lately, most of my blogging is about criminal justice and economics, although I am neither a lawyer nor an economist. I also blog from a libertarian viewpoint about the war on drugs, free speech, police misbehavior, and other issues.

I live and work (most days) on the northwest side of Chicago, Illinois.

I have been a community reporter for the Chi-Town Daily News. In theory, I still am, but it's been a long time since I submitted anything.

I'm an amateur photographer, and I've started including pictures with some of the articles on Windypundit. I also have a photo sharing site with all the Windypundit photos.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master's degree in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology. At one point, I was working toward a Ph.D. in Computer Science, focusing on Information Retrieval--which is the science of search engine technology--but I decided to relax and enjoy my life instead.
