I buy most of my photographic equipment from Adorama Camera.
Their site is well-organized and easy to search. For example, check out this page on 35mm & Digital SLR lenses (the link might be broken if you're looking at this article in my archives). As I type this, it shows 708 lenses.
You can choose to filter the lenses by manufacturer, digital/film, focal length, and style of lens mount. The filter choices are pretty flexible, in that you don't just drill down by manufacture; instead, you select as many manufactures as you want to see. You can also select from several different filter categories at the same time. For example, you can choose to see all macro or fisheye lenses made by Sigma and Tamron for the Nikon lens mount. The query finds 8 of them.
The adorama site has a good checkout process and provides detailed tracking information. They also have excellent customer service if you have questions about an order.
I mention all this because I just signed up for the Adorama affiliates program. ooooh, pretty. Shoot, if I could AFFORD a Lihof, I would get one. I'm still using my funky old Speed graphic most of the time.
I would recommend against using Adorama.com, despite a convenient website, fast shipping and usually good prices, their customer service is abysmal and return policy is absolutely unfair.
I am in a fight with them right now because they sent me the wrong hard case, insist it is my fault or their sales partner (despite me sending the order print-out clearly stating what I ordered). They won't exchange it for the correct case, because the correct case costs more than the wrong case they sent me. They refuse to accept any responsibility and expect the customer to resolve their communication problems with their sales partners. On top of that, they expect me to pay the return shipping for their or their partner's mistake, and they will deduct the cost of the "free shipping" to send the wrong item to me from my refund. They have yet to let me know how much that "free shipping" they will be deducting from my refund will be.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from Adorama.com, you'll quickly find that any problem you experience, the poor customer service and unreasonable return/refund policies will far outweigh any advantage they have in website and price.
Hmm. I never had a problem with getting the wrong thing, so I never tried to return anything to them. Thanks for the comment. Who would you recommend instead?
